Innane stuff...

electric mist: the future of blogging

And finally, and interesting article about one person's thoughts about the future of blogging.

There is some truth in there, but I'm going to have to take a look at it again to see if I really agree with the conclusions.

Blogs Mean Better Listings on Google

An article about the different types of Business Blogs.

And yet, another bit of information about blogging...

10 tips to keep in mind while blogging.

Building Blogs

Another interesting article about blogs, types of blogs, and the purpose of their existence.

5 Types of Blogs

Soggy Pigeon had this to say about different types of blogs. My blog is new enough that I'm not sure what kind of blog I want it to be.

There are a lot of things that I would like to write about, but I'm not so sure that I would want people reading them.

Then, I have to take into consideration, do I have anything to write about that people would have an interest in reading?

I've thought about writing about what it's like being a single dad, but is that so much different than being a part of a two parent family?? I don't know...

For the time being, this is a place where I put things that I think are interesting, or for this reason or that. Kind of like the junk drawer everybody has in the kitchen...

I Hate My Cubicle!!!

I Hate My Cubicle!!! is an interesting Blog I found yesterday. Kind of a do-it-yourself-Maxim blog.

Realtor's Land Institute - Member Search

Here is the member's page of one of our employees. I'm putting a link here so that the search engine spiders will always be able to find and index it.

Have you been googled?

As I've mentioned before, I am the webmaster for the company site. I was going through the logs this morning and found that one of our employees had been googled. What's that? No.. it's not some sexual thing.

Being googled is when someone types your name into a search engine to see what they can find out about you on the web. For the heck of it, I googled myself and found that I had been mentioned in a commentary. And as you would expect, he didn't get much of the information right. Oh well, at least I had the biggest paragraph.

Jenny's Pampered Chef site

Jenny, a friend of mine, recently showed me her new pampered chef website. I'll be curious to see how she makes use of it.

Blog Inspirations

I came across a site that lists "geneologies" for Blogs... In other words, who/what/where kind of blogs inspired you to start blogging. For me, it is this site. http://geeksonsteroids.blogspot.com/ I don't remember exactly how I stumbled on the website... I was looking for information about optimizing the company website and found the forum section of Janeth's site. I registered for the Bible forum, (which subsequently my registration was lost and I never renewed) and the business forum. I go back to the forums usually once a day to keep up on any new information about websites.

Miracle on 34th Street Marketing

I am the webmaster for my company's website and I recently had this "inspiration" concerning linking to our competitors' websites.

Do you remember the movie, "Miracle on 34th Street"? It's the one that starts with the Macy's Parade and follows the life of a cynical young girl who meets the "real" Santa. In the movie, Santa told the mother of one of the kids he was listening to on his lap that she could find the toy that she wanted at the competing department store down the street. Shocked, the store owner was about to fire Santa until he realized, it's a marketing strategy that worked!

Does it really work or is it just so much Hollywood make believe...

I believe it does, and I'm going to tell you why.

What is your business core value? A simple enough question. The obvious answer that may come to mind is, Make Money$$! That's fine. That's as good of a core value as any other, but you will never develop a great company with that as your core value.

How about this as a core value... Be the best in your industry to meet the need of your customers for the product or service you're offering.

What does that mean?

That means, that you recognize that you are not always going to be able to offer exactly what your potential customer needs at any given moment. Sometimes your competitor will. You face the question, do I try to change (persuade) the customer to fit what I have to offer or do I change myself/company to fit their need.

It's all about your focus. What your core value is.

If your focus is on your customer, you will have no problem referring them to the competition if in that particular instance they can better meet the need of the customer. Why, because that's part of your core value. Will the customer become overwhelmed with appreciation and send their family and friends to do business with you because of that? Probably not.

That's the Hollywood hype.

It's a good business practice, because it keeps your focus in the right place. That is, be the best at meeting the need, not making money. Meet the need, and the money will follow.

Miracle on 34th Street Marketing.

Bravejournal.com

Here's a different place to Blog. I tried to set up an account here, but I think the bank is blocking the email again. I wonder how many emails I've missed because the bank blocks them. It's pretty embarrassing when you have clients who can't get hold of you!

Real Estate Blog Nets Innovative Realto Award

I'm "surfing the net" and came across this blog entry on Blog Business World.

I'm trying to get up to speed on blogging to see if there is a way to effectively use it for the farm management profession I'm in.

I've started a blog for farm management, but I'm not quite sure what to do with it yet.

I'll be bookmarking interesting things in here from time to time to help me get things sorted out.

Alex's Baseball Pictures

Alex had pictures taken for his baseball team this morning. They were supposed to play the opening game this morning, but it's rained so much, the fields were in pretty bad shape. The boys couldn't even keep their pants clean. Black spots all up the back and down of their pants. Fortunately, I don't think it'll show up in the pictures... at least I hope.

Troy

Well, I'm in here at work, supposed to be doing some work, but I'm blogging instead. I went to go see Troy this afternoon, and... ehhh.... not bad, not great... just ehhh...

It's a Blogging thing...

Well... I don't know if I should be doing this or not.... but, we'll give this blogging thing a chance.

First, I would think that it has to be incredibly smug to think that anybody would be interested in reading anything that I would have to write... but I suppose it would depend on what I write.

But, whatever... if it works it works, if not, deletion will be the order of the day...
